Professionally, I hold a Masters Degree in Counseling and have worked primarily with teenagers and families in school and hospital settings. I’ve had training in a variety of specialty areas, including trauma response, drug/alcohol prevention and treatment, mediation, early intervention, art therapy, grief and loss, and group process. I’ve been trained in Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment (focusing on cognitive processes) through the International Renewal Institute, and in family intervention through the Northwestern Family Institute. I coordinated the multi-agency Family Resource Team for our school district’s residential area and was a group leader for the trauma response team. The past few years I’ve worked with school-age children and their families at Doernbecher and Emanuel Children’s Hospitals in Portland, Oregon.
On a more personal level, I have pursued many interests and passions. I’m an adventurer, an optimist, a life-long learner. I’ve trekked through the Himalayas of Nepal, lived with a family in Oaxaca, Mexico while attending a language immersion program, kayaked the west coast of British Columbia and lived off the land in the backwoods of Canada. I have completed training in energy healing and clairvoyance...a journey which began for me after a couple of miracles in my life that I couldn’t quite explain. I am a volunteer with Partners of the Americas and teach English in Costa Rica for a month every year. I am an avid reader, and belong to the Read and Feed book group which has been meeting to discuss books and life for 20 + years! I love to write and paint—although I’ve often not “found time” to do as much as I would like. I’m challenged daily to find a true balance and rhythm to my life, to include more creative and reflective time. SoulCollage® is a perfect match!
I’m married to a wonderful man (who loves to cook!) and have two great sons who are married to amazing women. My family of four sisters, their families and my mom all live within an hour or two of Portland. We’re a close family with lots of interests in common. I am truly blessed. Family, community, health, meaningful work..so much to be grateful for.
I look forward to meeting you and your friends. It promises to be a fun and rewarding adventure...Let’s “find time” together!
